TWO COUNTRIES COME TOGETHER FOR A FRIENDLY GOLF GAME

Johor Bahru, 26 July 2007 – The Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC) Golf Challenge was held at Pulai Spring Resort recently. This event was sponsored by the Chairman of United Engineers (M) Bhd (UEM). YBhg Tan Sri Ahmad Tajuddin Ali. There were approximately 31 delegates from both countries and they participated in a friendly match at the Resort’s 36-hole championship USGA class golf course. Rooms were provided to the VIPs for to refresh themselves and change into their golfing attire.

Most of the delegates arrived at Pulai Springs Resort in the early. The registration was conducted at the Resort’s golf centre and the delegates were greeted by representatives of UEM Group and the Resort’s personnel. Goodies bag were distributed which included T-shirt, cap, shoe bag, golf ball, golf tee and vitamins. They later proceeded for lunch at Kayangan Suites.

Among the VIP’s who participated in the event included Y.A.B Dato’ Hj Abdul Ghani bin Othman, Chief Minister of Johor, Y.A. Bhg Tun Musa Hitam, Joint co-chairman of MCBC, His Excellency Mr Yu Ping, Vice-chairman of China Council for the Promotion of the International Trade (CCPIT) and Y. Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, Chairman of UEM Bhd. They were accompanied by caddies. The golf challenge commenced with a delightful mood whereby the VIPs claimed that they had not been playing golf for a long time. Other delegates also tee-off gradually in sequence. Light refreshments were served at the Halfway House to rejuvenate the golfers’ energy. The golf challenge ended with Malaysia emerging as the winning team.

The golf challenge ceremony was hosted by our Club Manager, Mr Alfred Ng. The mode of play was System 36 which means the handicap was determined based on the score of the day.

This golf challenge was held in conjunction with the Malaysia-China Business Forum 2007 – Growing Bilateral Relationship: Expanding Business Opportunities which was held at Johor Bahru during that week.
